Water shortages, Increased regulations and how to survive the fallout

- What: Irrigation and landscaping practices to reduce water use while improving plant health and sustainability.
- Why: Counteract scheduled rate increases and regulations set forth by your water district and the state.
- How: Utilize information obtained through an Irrigation Audit to retrofit, repair and upgrade your current system to its most efficient state. Install “smart” irrigation equipment, replace problem plant material with native and low-water-use plants, as well as basic landscaping practices to improve soil and reduce invasive weeds, disease and pests.
This presentation will give members of the Central Valley IFMA and its associates an introduction to irrigation and landscaping practices that can reduce water use and save money. With a focus on water-use rate increases that are scheduled to take place in the next 5 to 10 years and how to counteract them through irrigation system improvements. As a certified water auditor, Raymond Thengvall will discuss the benefits of irrigation water audits, how they are performed and steps to take once the reports are received. He will also provide an introduction to “smart” irrigation equipment, how they work and where they can be utilized; as well as, basic landscaping practices that can improve plant health and sustainability.
